I knew a few guys there at OD who worked port. They made decent money but the company is ruthless and will terminate your lease over any BS. One of the O-O truckers had attended a driver meeting. OD told them they would fire any drivers who went to the meetings which at that time drivers were holding every couple months. This driver told them they didn't make decisions for what he could attend such as an outside function. Next day OD terminated his lease and that of two other drivers who attended. Another time it was over a decal driver had placed on his truck. They said as long as truck was leased to them they controlled both driver and truck. So take this for what it's worth.

i do not know how they are now. when i worked for them three years ago old dominion was no better then the rest. a lot more rules that's all. the money was about same. i was leased with them about eight months. that was long enough to see i wasn't gonna make it off their o/o pay sheet.

I'm up towards Charlotte NC and had a pretty good run from here to Charleston but when the economy took a dive this run started drying up until it was gone. Guys running for that company now are trucking for about $1.20 a mile with the surcharge and thinking its all gravy. I don't see how the hell they are making it with truck payments, I said to hell with it and got a 9-5 until I find what I want. My truck has been making regular runs to the grocery store and back for about 10 months now. I'm making about the same money if not more than those guys in the long run and getting home at a decent time.

i parked the truck after making last payment 9 months ago. i work doing heavy equipment operating. paycheck every friday no deductions. fuel only my pickup to drive to work. piss on the carriers. it's not what i want to be doing but pays bills right now. my truck is no more wear and tear right now. i am looking forward to trucking again but i can wait it out until these bone heads decide to pay us for our services instead of stealing.
