I remember this man. He used to stand out in front of PMT handing out newsletters to drivers. It was the same old stuff all the time. He was kind of weird but dedicated to stopping the free work inside the port. Anyone know what ever happened to him?

I know Jack however I do not know what has happened to him. He was in the trucking business but he also ran the old Southern truck stop which used to be outside Suffolk on highway 58. Jack was a real pain in the ass for the port authority when his trucks pulled containers. He stood up to them and had himself banned twice that I know of for calling a trucker strike. You have to give the old man credit though. He had balls back in those days of driver unrest. That's more than you can say for these newbies.
Even if Jack did do some pretty nutty things at least he tried to do something for his fellow truckers. The b*t#h that runs Gilco Trucking hated him. Back then she ran Marine Freight and at one time she was president of the Tidewater Motor Carriers assoc. He drove her crazy constantly stirring up trouble with the truckers. I would be interested in finding out what happened to him myself.

Sounds like you drivers have got plenty of trouble in Virginia. First you need to get rid of the sissy's behind the wheel that want to complain but who are the same ones scared to take a stand. The rest of you pick out a few of the worse trucking companies and prepare to show them you mean business. Boycott them do whatever it takes to squeeze them like they do us. This isn't the ideal time but plan for it anyway so when port freight returns you are ready to take action.

we have plenty o numb nuts who dance to the company tune and a tidewater driver asso. that doesn't believe in rocking the boat. i know timing is everything but some of these dudes need to grow some nuts or remain a servant of the company forever. i cannot believe oo's are so scared here of getting fired that they will not say no, no matter what the company wants them to do.

I remember Miss Shirley from Marine Freight. I didn't wait around long enough for her to really empty my pockets although I'm sure I got clipped for pocket change while there.
