The Teamsters are not welcome or trusted here in Charleston, South Carolina anymore. Been there, done that, they screwed us big time. The Teamsters left truckers to answer to the companies after supporting their union activities then never came back. If we deal with another union it will be the "Charleston Five" ILA local that has helped truckers at this port over the many years.

The port situation is enough to push some guys into going postal inside the gates. Wonder if the TWIC card has a profile category for that? Now we end up getting screwed by the very union (Teamsters) that swore they were going to work with us on a plan to help owner drivers. What a BAD joke that has turned out to be

I will be waiting, ready, and willing to help. Just post what we need to do. For those of you willing to take the time to make a difference we have developed a petition or driver letter to send Congress on the matter changing FAAA rulings. We feel it very unwise to allow port authorities to decide who hauls the freight or have a free hand to implement an employee/mandate banning the owner-operator trucker. This invites political pressure from the Green coalition groups to influence ports to decide on policies that will permanent damage our ownership rights as truckers. For more you can email me at seawheels2000@aol.comYou may also email the board at IODA@porttrucker.com

when are we going to get something concrete here in tidewater? this local trucking association (oocva) that has ties to ooida is just another trade association whose power is limited. they are selling discounts at parts houses instead of seriously solving our issues. we need the capability to force the carriers around here to pay more money. that's not going to happen unless we are in the position to negotiate a trucker contract. i don't see after all this time where this norfolk driver club has made any headway with the real problems. i know following in the footsteps of ooida is not going to get us where we need to be. it's a great organization to belong to but they can't help us when it comes to the collective group taking aggressive action. talking to port management has gone on around here for years. it's time to stop the talk and prepare for battle in the coming year. i like what i see on this site. i know you guys can't revel in an open forum what you are doing behind the scenes but it would be a blessing if we had a meeting at some point in hampton roads to discuss these options. thanks from the rest of us here. keep the fire burning and please keep us informed.

We understand your concerns. There are constructive things we can all be working on right now preparing for our future strategy. Your right we cannot broadcast what the working group behind this organization is intending to do but I can fill in a few blanks that may peak your interest. Anyone interested write me with your contact information at seawheels2000@aol.com
We'll do our best to answer some of your questions. I will also add you to an active list of truckers who are participating at different terminal locations.

We are currently about to fire off another letter to legislators in Washington about the so-called clean truck plan that intends to wipe out Americas' Intermodal Owner-Operator trucker.
Those of you who want to make copies to gather trucker signature's contact us at :
