hey cheeeezzzz. not gonna happen driver. the majority these steering wheel holders will go right on hauling cans. first u need to hold a meeting to get this started. what happened to jim? u better get him back involved if u wanna to make something pop in savannah. i hear a lot of talk at the port but that is about it. just talk. i think there plenty drivers who would join a new movement but like i said before. first start by holding a driver meeting to see where everyone stands.

Time, date, place of February driver meeting will be announced first of next week. So now we'll see just how many are truly interested in change or satisfied to remain on the fence.

these agents live in their own little world. they don't give a $#*t how much in the hole their o/o trucker is going because there has always been another stupid sucker to take his/her place. the o/o driver shortage is coming straight on at these management morons and they are like fat deer standing in the bright headlights. when it finally sinks in that there is only a handful of drivers left willing to pull this cheap crap the music will have stopped by then and everyone of them will be grasping for the last chair. believe me that day is coming later this year. my tractor has been parked since july of 2009 and is maintained in perfect shape. it needs only insurance and a tag. i know dozens out here that have run their trucks into the ground trying to make ends meet to no avail only in the meantime profiting the agents and oil companies. i also know dozens that parked their ride months ago like i did waiting for rates to reach the point of making it worthwhile to hit the road again. if there is any abundance of holiday freight this year what's left of port transportation system is going to be ill prepared to move it in mass so i say let them enjoy screwing over everyone for a few more months because they're going to have to begin paying for destroying the backbone of this industry that has always buttered their bread.

I just put mine back out there. I'm only running local, two, three miles from port at fifty five a move. It was a 98 KW double bunk until I pulled the sleeper off so I don't have any plans of doing road work again. There is some of this container work that pays but you have to look long, hard and refuse to pull any of this low ball stuff they are trying to peddle. I believe you guys are right about the truck shortage by the end of the year. We'll see what happens the closer the holiday season comes into play. I for one will park it back in the driveway before my truck hauls for a driver paycheck.

I am one of those agents that you guys are always talking crap about on this forum. I just have two questions for you. (1) Have you ever stopped to think Its not the agents pulling crappy equipment out the port, its the port releases crappy equipment!! (2) If you are so Dissatisfied with Driving a truck, Then why dont you find another job.

(1) Have you ever stopped to think Its not the agents pulling crappy equipment out the port, its the port releases crappy equipment!! (2) If you are so Dissatisfied with Driving a truck, Then why dont you find another job. FYI-I'm not dissatisfied with driving a truck. I've worked in this field all my life good times and bad. In better times I know normally what to expect from this profession. Trouble is, things are a whole lot different now than many years back. We used to make an exceptional living doing this type work. You didn't have to worry so much about the company you're leased on with intentionally misrepresenting the facts. I'm totally disgusted with the apparent openness of stealing from contractors going on around this port without any accountability. The way most trucking management seems to cover for one another in Savannah relays the message that it's OK to rob the driver blind just as long as everyone comes back for more. I hope by some magical event the roof caves in on some of the worst of the firms around here who continue to fleece the unsuspecting flock of newbies. My advice to new drivers would be don't be afraid to take some of these companies before a judge.

I am averaging ONE load a week! YEAH it sucks. Wont take cheap freight so that's what I get. But you oughta see the guys in line for the cheap freight. I dont mind though because when the good paying stuff comes, they are so busy running their a--es off for what i make in ONE run. The good paying freight isn't frequent or abundant so they are not interested. : ) Meanwhile, I'll make due while contemplating next move. They'll be the same dedicated drivers for next ten years.

btw: forgot to mention: yeah, lets get going. I have plenty of time. I know a GOOD spot in Hilton Head/Blufton way. I'll split fuel and take care of anchoring.

it seems u have a huge silent majority on your list serve. myself 's included among those who are willing to take some type action but waiting cautiously. hopefully this sav. driver meeting which i see advertised will yield sensible answers. i have a lot of questions i would like addressed. we need to see a good discussion of a plan not another uncontrolled b*tc# session. give us something with substance to build on. if that happens the local driver attitude may do a turnabout.

we sure could use a good reason to hold , i just don't see anything changing here in Savannah but all you hear on the xm radio is how rates are up and we better make our money now,yet its still the same here, they said that the ave age rate for freight box was 210-220 pm and we are still at a dollar? ??

Savannah driver meeting will be held on Saturday, May 14 starting at 9:30 AM. A meeting hall is already secured for that morning. The location will be announced later next week on this forum. Time, date, location will soon be posted on a leaflet circulating the port. Have a nice day

it would be nice to get things back on track in this city. if we could get rates up it would benefit everyone including local trucking companies.
