They are trying to sell us a bad box of goods. I know myself I'm not interested in joining with them on anything at this time. The truck I drive is paid for. I don't drive a company owned truck. Maybe If I drove a company truck the Teamsters would be an attractive alternative but I don't need them messing up what I have invested in my business as an independent trucker. You only have to look what they've done in CA to the owner-operator trucker at the ports. Now for those CA truckers to remain in business they have to purchase a 2007 model because of the stupid clean truck program the union fully backed. I'll save my membership for OOIDA. You will too if your smart. We need an organization that helps with our business problems not destroys us.

I find this whole thing fascinating. Oh well we'll see what the new Teamster plan for container haulers is soon enough. As long as they keep their warped California/NJ clean truck campaign out of here we really don't care what the Teamsters do. If they organize a few local companies, fine, that will raise rates across the board in Savannah but if they insist on bringing that half-baked environmental campaign here forcing low country O/O truckers to purchase new equipment to haul port cargo than they had better get ready to spend some money fighting. The majority of us will not stand by idle while they try that crap here in the south. That program will cost our work, not only container hauling but all port trucking such as lowboy, flat, drop deck, any freight that comes or goes through this port. We can still be very helpful in many ways (even though they have screwed over drivers here in the past) or their worse f^#k*ng nightmare It's the Teamsters choice. Come here playing bully dog against local O/O truckers and they'll leave town a failure...

i say goodbye to them dude. kenny asked me to come so did. i listened to their teamster agents or whoever they are. it all sounds like jus more baloney to me. i think we can do better with ooida like the other driver said. they are an owner driver assoc. think about it. i don't trust the union to look out for our best interest.

I wasn't around this area before when the union was active in Savannah but after talking to several truckers here who were I don't trust what they have to say either. Perhaps we should form our own group.. Talk with GA legislators about problems we have here. Just a thought but why not? We can represent our self instead of inviting trouble from outsiders?

sounds good to me. i would come to a driver meeting to discuss this. i think we are better off without teamsters. i'm not keen on unions. you see what we have to deal with on the docks. why ask for more trouble?

yeah, lol with the teamsters. they will blow smoke up your ass about great things to come while helping their environmental wacko groups scrap your truck. no more owner-operator truckers yep that's the new teamster slogan intended for you driver. just watch your backside when they're in your town

they r not interested in helping the trucker. read between the lines. the meeting left more questions then answers. we cannot get any straight answers from them in any form. i dont think we will be going to another meeting if they ever have one here again.

Do you find any value in the teamsters at all? Do you think if they did organize that it would have a good impact on the situation?

i think it would raise rates for the rest of us in trucking around savannah. that is a good thing. the bad thing is what i am reading about them. they are behind the ban on the owner op trucker in california and attempting to do this in new york, new jersey. i would not join with teamsters. they don't have drivers best interest in mind but making money off drivers just like everyone else at the port.

hey these union dudes don't give up. they have a couple fools in savannah that want teamsters back after the mess they made. memories are short but a while back they made big promises in charleston and savannah then left us holding the bag. remember how many drivers lost their jobs because of their crap? do you really want teamsters back. they can do nothing for the trucker in savannah but cause more trouble with their lies. no thanks-i don't need them screwing around in my business. go back to where you came from the sooner the better for all of us. please just leave.
