I've pulled my last stinking container. The trucks paid for & I'm looking for work in some other part of this industry. I don't like tank work or dragging tarps but if it's that or containers I'll do whatever. After six intermodal trucking companies & eight years of my life wasted at the port NO MORE! Good luck to all in port trucking. Get out while you can or you will lose everything you own for sure.

been there done that dude. cheap, cheap, cheap freight. the working conditions suck.the companies find new ways to deduct money from your pay not counting you don't know what true percentage your being paid on. a lot of guys are being screwed hauling containers so i cannot figure the attraction to it? maybe their record is so bad they cannot go anywhere else for work.i tried it a few times but very few honest agents around savannah.

gets worse each day for truckers in this business. i am looking for another job for my truck now but that may have to wait depending on what the dock unions do at end of this month.

It's funny how containers pay triple when your not dependent on them for a daily living. I get top dollar when they need to move them on my flat.

yeah driver, they pay top dollar when those boxes are needed at another location. any other time it's dirt cheap freight. i pull them occasionally on my step deck. i'm not talking about back haul rates either. i don't do back hauls. that's a sacred vow not to break even though there are plenty idiots hurting everyone else doing back hauls. florida is a prime example of sh*t freight but with a little work you can find loads out of there also that pay decent money.

supply and demand. when there is a short supply of trucks drivers can demand decent pay. right now still to many cooks in the kitchen.

by years end a lot less trucks will be on road owned by individual drivers. independent truckers are dying a slow death thanks to greedy company agents. i know there will be the usual ones that say not true but it doesn't take long to see who doesn't pay in charleston.
