I am down with this fellows. After working these port for six years I see everything written about on this web page. I also think the teamsters union is out to hurt the driver owner using dirty trucks as excuse to run us off from hauling port freight. I think drivers can speak for ourself. We dont need the union messing around with our job description to solve problems we have at the port. This is no good for truckers. We must make our own decisions without trusting someone to do this for us. Dont rely on anyone. When we hand our voice over to outsiders our message gets confused. We have the power to switch off the key. They dont.

Teamsters don't have any power at the ports. We do. We just don't use it. That's the biggest reason Teamsters want us. Thousands of new members for them who move the containers. The trouble I see with the Teamsters is they want to bump us back to company driver positions without ownership of our trucks. That's exactly what diesel has been saying. I'm not interested in going backwards to become a company driver after owning my truck for twenty years. I don't see anything good to be accomplished with Teamsters. I talked to their organizer a few months back when they were having their latest port truck membership drive. Not one could answer the simplest question. All I could get was we have a plan but can't tell you right now. Well that SUCKS!
