Are any Va based companies supplying transponders for their owner-op's or are you guys buying your own and getting reimbursed by the company. I'm asking because the outfit I'm leased to just told us yesterday we have to get our own, pay the extra fee for getting a monthly bill, and bring the bill to them with supporting docs (i.e. TIR's) and then they'll give us a check to reimburse us. They also said they will not be paying for bobtail tolls. So I told them don't bother sending me thru any of the tunnels to pick anything up. I'm just wondering if anybody else has been told that.

suicide jockey , the company I am leased to is talking of getting the transponders for us and then billing the customer, but nothing is in black and white yet . the bad is that the tolls will have to be paid no matter what , the good is that it is a business expense and it will be a tax deduction

the good is if you're making the amount of money to pay tolls there shouldn't be a problem at all. that said most theses trucking companies i know of at the virginia ports don't pay enough to haul the freight from pint a to point b to replace the burnt fuel! as long as they find idiots willing to work for minimal rates everyone else looks like the bad guy when we bother making a stink about these cheap ass rates.

The company I`m leased to ordered transponders for all o/o`s. I`m assuming they will be paying the bill as well, which will be passed onto our cu stomers. They were informed last week about the additional expenses. Having said that,I realize that my deal is unique. Feel for you guys that are gonna be lucky to get reimbursed by your companies. As for rates- the ENTIRE trucking industry is working too cheap- we should all park until the money gets right.Making better money with containers than anything else I`ve tried in the last 10 years. Compared to what I made from 1985-2000(cost of living included), I`m not making money present day trucking, period.

I don't run anywhere there are tolls except in Florida. I make sure to include that extra money right onto the freight rate each time I have to run turnpike or south Florida. No exceptions. That's not my problem the state charges to use their roads. No way will I absorb that additional cost. Why should we? Either it's extra or I don't pull their load period. Now what's so difficult to understand about that? I feel for the guys up north but if you run tolls that's a simple solution to me. I don't pay them so that leaves the company I lease with or their customer to decide between them.
