These trucking companies are trying everything possible to find truckers to pull containers.Cookouts, girls leafleting outside terminal gates, leaving fliers in windshields, internet adds, local print news, and offering bigger sign on bonuses. Wouldn't it be nice to find just one company that actually pays for all the work we do? How about one that doesn't try stealing our money each week? Boy that one company would corner all the owner/operators they wanted with an honest run operation

yeah , you don't really get a bonus for signing on if they are paying less than others but they make it sound good for the newbies. it's a typical sucker trap. try getting back your escrow account much less the bonus from these freaks.

Don't expect any serious bonus from sleazy trucking agencies that dominate port trucking. The only thing they understand is when a group of disgusted drivers finally refuse to haul their customers cheap a$$ freight. The momentum doesn't ever last long enough though to accomplish anything. Once the anger wears off these rate cutting companies can always find plenty suckers willing to haul again. It's going to take a lot of work to convince the majority their slowly going broke by operating for pennies. First off good luck getting most to listen. I try everyday but it just makes my blood pressure go up.

yeah it's ;D the motor carriers still don't get it.i see a lot more companies lately are leasing trucks to drivers to create independent contractors. i will stick to trip leasing to whomever needs me bad enough to make it worth my while. my ride is paid for so i don't work for any break even freight. i feel sorry for those who think they can ever pay for those company trucks.lol

A trucking company had a couple pole dancers handing out fliers the other day at the Savannah port. Since they're already pimping out truckers to customers why not expand the business to area hookers

Wait till the new federal regulations kick in. Driver pay will be at least .50 per mile to attract anyone left. Betcha O/O rates go to $2.00. I own my truck & average between $155 to $1.80 per mile. These advertised container rates paid to the trucker are a sick joke. I still see some less than a dollar per mile. Break even on your equipment expense is $1.30. No wonder truckers working the port are disappearing.

They are not disappearing. It seems like everytime one quits, two more show up. Unreal the lines that develop in GPA. I would have already quit except I am almost old enough to retire and only hanging in for a few more months.

Don't hold your breath. I see new drivers out here everyday behind the wheel who came from landscaping, construction, or other work that has dried up due to the current economy. The way they see it they're making money until the truck breaks or they have a serious accident injuring someone due to lack of trucking skills.

sign on bonus it takes money to operate a business successfully. this is feeding off desperate drivers who are behind on payments & take the bait only never see this illusive bonus. your lucky to get back escrow money much less a bonus from these pirates
