Does anyone know if we can still hold a driver meeting at the Charleston ILA hall? I would really like to see something along that line happen soon. How many other drivers here would attend such a meeting? We need to call a gathering to discuss the issues among ourselves but who or what group would be willing to take the lead. Any ideas on this?

yes owner-op's from our company would definitely come.we have been talking about holding one ourselves but it's not gone anywhere yet. i am sure many from other companies will attend with fuel prices exploding at pump. the company we are leased with is low balling the surcharge. they refuse to show us what the customer is paying on the fsc. i thought there was a law which would make them show this?

yes driver if your lease agreement says that you are to be payed on a percentage and all the fuel surcharge they are bound by law to show you what they are getting for payment, you can force them to show you but you probably wont have a job after but who wants to work for someone stealing from you anyway.if you are a member of ooida they have a legal dept that will tell you all you want to know for free,if you not its only 25.00 to join a year,if you need there phone number say so and i will get it for you

the problem here in sugar town is 99% of agents are stealing money from their owner/operators so your limited on which companies are actually honest enough to lease with.

would the longshoremen have anything to do with organizing this driver meeting? remember they had a trucking company here in charleston years ago with all leased owner operators. it disappeared after operating for only a year or two. i don't know happened to that deal but would they be willing to do something along that line again?
