I tried to explain that saying the same stuff over and over would result in drivers walking away . maybe one day the drivers will unite

are you talking about oocva in norfolk? i thought they had backing from ooida? what happened to the meetings they were having? i finally just quit going to them. to me it was always more of a driver discount club whose leadership didn't want to rock the industry boat so to speak.

we do need representation , but , until we can all put our differences aside and get on the same page, nothing will change . the OOC made many mistakes that previous groups made , but , when a group from out of the area who offers assiatance , there must be open minds and a willingness to atleast consider working together . people say shiplines will not move freight else where , but it has happened , just like people said PMT wouldn't close, it sure as hell happened . if another group is formed , they should be led by people who have a minimum of atleast 10 years in the container industry , people who have seen the bad and good times , people who are willing to listen to others and not be so head strong , and TRUCK DRIVERS not AGENTS OR MANAGERS from trucking companies

I see their OOCVA web site is useless. Everything is old news and the forum that their association leadership (POLICE) censored has completely vanished. What really did these guys in? Internal Politics? I didn't realize until recently how involved OOIDA was in keeping their ship afloat but it finally sank with all the dead wood on board. Wonder if all hands were still on deck as it went down?

it was a great thing when started.i'm not sure i know what happened after that but it's all history now. i think to many individual personalities got in the way. what's next. if anyone decides to hold another meeting post that info on this forum. i know a lot of guys here are from the hampton roads area . we can't give up in virginia but if there is another driver group formed i hope lessons learned from oocva keep it from being a repeat.

We welcome any of the old OOCVA membership to our web forum. I know that they're already several of you that post on here so this is directed to any others who may want to join or post. We are all in these difficult times together so use this forum as your way of communicating with other Virginia drivers or to build a strong supportive coalition for your port.

just another day in the peanut gallery at pmt. no one seems to mind full speed in reverse. the trucking companies lov this divide & conquer. maybe rates will go down to 78cents per mile. break everyone. i bet then u could still see fools try to pul the boxes. they would just steal more fuel. without any organization we have nothing. i am not saying we need another oocva. i think they were to cozy with the problem makers. there has to be something better that will address the corruption in tidewater. joining the motor carrier assoc. would be another stupid idea. any one?

yep. the oocva group folded . That's really a shame for Virginia truckers. I hope you guys can get something else in the works soon. In the meantime to fill in the void makes communicating on here even more important. From what I gather the VA groups leadership wanted to go at it alone so that put everyone of you at a disadvantage from the start. We all need to be working together every step of the way.

Only ones I feel sorry for are the OOCVA members who contributed their hard earned cash to the end. The leadership huh! They chose the path they wanted to go. They made the OOCVA association about them. I mentioned to one of their great leaders I had found this port trucker forum at a meeting that I attended. Why not invite some of these guys to participate I asked. You would have thought I said that I had an infectious tropical disease of some kind. This gentlemen informed me that OOIDA had the answers to their questions. I have been a member of OOIDA for many years but they don't have a grip on what we need in Virginia at the ports. Maybe this will be the importunity for a fresh start. If OOIDA still wants to tag along for the insurance sales they had better do a little more research on what we really need. Less talk and some planed driver actions would be a good start.

I personally don't feel sorry for anyone. They made their own agenda and now the rest of the drivers will have to start all over again. It is a shame all that money is spent and thrown away. I am glad I only gave just a very tiny amount . I am not ready to give up, but I have met alot of back stabbing non trust worthy people this time around
