Virginia drivers are still making noise at the port terminals but without any direction it's just that, NOISE! That was a critical problem with the recent association. On the ground drivers made plenty noise but the true problems seemed to miss the mark at the top. Everyone forget the past for now. What we need is to look at this under a new light. I believe there are a lot of good ideas on this web forum that need to be brought back to life. So the floor is open.

The past has important lessons to remember. I don't know. Sometimes it seems like everything concerning VA drivers that got started in this area came crashing down over our heads. Every time we appoint a few drivers in a leadership position the head games start. Is this really worth the sacrifice? It seems as though nothing will change here no matter what course we chose to take. Over the past twenty years I have been supportive of four different Hampton Roads driver associations. Look where we are at today. I'm not ready to throw in the towel quite yet but I think we better take a slower approach before jumping in with both feet again. What's happened with OOIDA? I see they still have the OOCVA website posted collecting membership dues. Is the OOCVA on an OOIDA life support system or has it passed completely away? Yes I agree we should have a fresh start with new ideas that make more sense but at the same time build on what we have learned from past mistakes.

I myself don't have a clue what happened to the OOCVA group. One thing for sure though. We still have the very same problems in Virginia with port transportation even worse than before.

there are to many crooks allowed to operate trucking agencies or trucking companies in tidewater without any enforcement by state officials to keep them honest. until the day something is done to stop the corrupt owners in this business nothing will change in virginia for any of us. why do drivers keep going back to the same ones that constantly screw them over remains a mystery to me. in that case its the fault of the driver but what can you do with the guys that don't learn on the first round? education? if there is a new group formed i hope you guys really devote more time to address these problems instead of on stuff we don't need.

My personal take on things is, I think most of the drivers want to fix the here and now and NOT WORRY ABOUT THE LONG TERM SOLUTIONS . Too many of these drivers are worried about just themselves and not about the future drivers and the problems they will face. What we do now will affect generations to come long after we are gone. I have been pro ILA and negative ILA in the past , but , I don't see most those guys wanting to help us with our problems but they want us to help them with theirs. Personally I have mixed feelings about the fully automated system they are going too because it takes away from the face to face interaction , but , that to can be a good thing . There are to many people worried about just them selves and NOT for the greater good of all. We need to work together will all other port areas as well. Any moron who says they don't want out side help or advice is not someone I want representing me. It is too easy for these shiplines to move .
