they just terminated one of their owner operators who has been there for several years. he was questioning a discrepancy of how much was being deducted from his pay on workers comp each month. the company ceo said they didn't have to respond to drivers inquiries or show anything on paper why the overcharge. he told this driver he would be immediately terminated for questioning their authority and followed up by calling savannah to make it so. this is a band of thieves that needs to be made an example of.

CTI has been around for 66 years and has over 200 Owner operators and only 1 complaint listed ( not bad ).. CTI offers a OCC ACC Policy with a work comp Ryder for $42.91 per week. The OO also has the option to buy his own policy. I can't get over drivers that b*t@h about OCC ACC/ Work Comp coverage. Roll the truck, end up in a wheel chair and you will be thankful you have coverage. OCC/ACC work comp is for YOU the company gets nothing out of it. ONCE AGAIN YOU CAN SUPPLY YOUR OWN.

workers comp doesn't cover independent contractors status unless you classify ur o/o's as an employee. are you ready to do that? if not any wc your taking out per week is illegal. does your driver have a legitimate insurance policy in his name with everything spelled out? if cti is such a wonderful company why would a trucker be terminated for asking questions of the main office in pa pertaining to decrepitency in deduction of his money or refused a policy in savannah?

Why not let us Owner Ops who have our own operating authority handle our own paperwork?
I, speaking for myself here, have had my own MC# for yrs, and I have to maintain my insurance, worksman comp, IFTA, tags ect all to maintain my Authority. so why should I have to have my check deducted each week by YOUR COMPANY???
Again speaking for myself here, my insurance company can add YOU on thus adjusting my policies to suit YOUR needs and this COVERS MY TRUCK TOO!!!! My insurance company will even notify you when any change is made to my policy so you know your load is FULLY INSURED. Lets do away with all the deductions you Brokers and Agents take for YOUR insurance while YOUR POLICY will not cover my truck!
Lets do like all contractors treat the fricking Dump Truck owners round here... quote a price then just pay us to haul the load.
I tell you one thing from now on I will be interviewing the Company that asks me to pull for them.
Starting with I want to see YOUR safety record! Lets me see where you brokers and Agents companies rate with the Government's CSA score. The last company I leased on with here in SAV had a CSA score of 99. Not very safe is it.
My Truck is spotless I send my truck to the DOT every 90days for a voluntary inspection just to keep my records clean. Now here in SAV I'm forced to deal with fricking Agents and Brokers that are always at or near the 99 CSA mark.
At CSA score of 100 the DOT steps in to investigate the company in question for operating unsafely.
I want no part of Agents Brokers and Companies that operate like this, which is why my truck is parked and will stay that way until MY TERMS are met.

cti is a piece crap company anyway. they have complaints by owner drivers that go way back years. that is total bs of only one incident in 66 years. ask a few truckers in jersey what kind jerks they are. tha owner of cti thinks he is al capone but is really diaper dan!

Re: GA Peach Comments Something does not sound correct here on several levels. Why would the company in question be deducting Workers Comp from an Owner Operator? He would have had to sign an agreement allowing them to deduct monies from his settlement and pay on his behalf. Maybe this is Occupational Accident Insurance - which is not WC at all. OCCAC should always have a flat monthly of weekly deduction. OCCAC normally runs between $130 and $175 per month - depending on coverage and insurance company. That said the driver in question would have signed a policy /contract allowing for the amount to be deducted from his weekly settlement and should have been aware and understand the amount prior to signing. Got to believe the chatter here has been twisted, seems to be based on word of mouth or hearsay. Here is link to GA WC board. sbwc.georgia.gov/portal/site/SBWC/"opinion OCCAC is not really a good way to protect your family from financial ruin. All Owner-Operators need to seek as much disability insurance as they can afford" - they all sell it --- no recommendations ever.

a lot of companies used to take wc from o,operators evn though wc doesnt cover independent contractor. not many still do since dozens of cases were filed. mostly ocai now. even phone calls to insurance commissioner were made over this practice but it still goes at a few companies. if you sign lease which many drivers do blindly no matter what the paper says trucking company lease cant break law with wc deductions. there have already been several law suits with court awards to truckers over illegal deductions from inde, contractors including wc insurance. there also have been a few company managers criminally prosecuted over fraud because no insurance ever existed that driver was paying premium on.

My buddy has been with CTI for over a year and makes good money with them. He said the loads pay around $1.50 per mile with fuel.

that's great. give us some examples of their$1.50 per mile pay. how much to atlanta, charleston, jax, macon, charlotte,or anywhere else they run will do just fine. that will make it simpler for me to weigh if i want to put my truck there.
