yep i'm giving my peterbilt and myself a break for a few months. i found some good winter work that pays better then this bulls#^t at the port and doesn't burn one drop of fuel. it will last for about four months beginning over the holidays so i'm giving the old girl a much deserved rest from these stinking containers. maybe the spring will bring better rates if they can't find truckers so readily available. anyway i'm tickled i don't have to spend this winter moving boxes for dummies who try to clip us out of every dollar. i will be looking at the website but not driving so in a couple more weeks i will park it at the house for a makeover until the trees bud back again.

Good luck to you. I'm retired but I have several friends who have done same as you. They are hardcore truckers that will be back when transportation prices are where they should be. There's a new report out today about the looming owner-operator/driver shortage that soon will be felt nationwide by shippers if the economy improves over the next year. Credible forecasters are predicting that scenario will begin happening in 2012 so let's hope trucking rates are at the bottom now.

u should do a survey on how many are mia. wonder how many drivers have parked trucks this year? both my trucks are at home. we have been working construction for four months now. i won't tag anything after the first until i see some real rate increases. trucking is a joke in savannah.
