the savannah area looks to be a good spot for loading a flatbed. do you guys have any agents or brokers you trust that have a lot of decent paying loads?

A forty five foot trailer will limit you. Forty eight would be better suited for finding loads today. You'll also be better off leasing your truck and trailer to an established company until you learn the system before filing for your own rights. It's less complicated having a company take care of all the billing, pay, dispatching, and permitting required leaving you time to operate your truck.

I have a forty eight air ride spread. No problem here finding work averaging over $3.00 per mile out of the southeast. I'll never go back to working the port again. Those containers could pay the same thing if the guys would stop pulling cheap but that will not happen. There are to many suckers behind the wheel at the ports ready to move boxes for a low price.
