Surge brakes

I am looking for advice from you members who have installed surge brakes on your trailer. There are several kits out there from different manufacturers in either disc or drum. It would be possible to buy the parts separately, not in a kit, and install them. I am leaning toward the stainless steel discs, because they appear simpler, but I have no objection to the drums.
