it looks more today like we are facing a big strike soon. i was talking today to dispatch but they say that we can still work becaue port will stay open with new workers.i dont believe that. i think it is real bad idea to go to port during a strike. anyone ever been in strike? advice please.

Good luck with your dispatchers idea. If I were you driver I would quit hauling the Friday before the strike takes place. It's not going to be a very wise decision to try go into the port during a strike. I'm sure the dock workers will have long memories of who supported them and who didn't after the strike is over. We have to work with these guys no matter what anyone thinks about their tactics. Dispatchers will tell you anything to move the customers freight and also make them self look good to upper management. They are not the ones who will be on the front line so tell them no thanks.

I would suggest checking out the ILA ,port and shipline websites to understand more about this possible strike.I`m staying home in support of the ILA.Still reading both sides though.

yeah i talked to a couple steamship line people who told me the money may jump when everybody returns because the customers will want their boxes before anyone else. i know walmart paid a lot better bucks the last time their was a small squabble which cost them time. they wanted every local truck to move their cans first so let's see what happens here. if i sit out for a couple weeks i'm not going back in for chicken feed to put up with the delays this will cause. they better be prepared to pay or i will wait until what i call normal business returns. my buddies say they will do same so make them pay or bleed!there won't be any free time in my book. i can remain home for free so why should i donate my time to these crumbs.
