road trucks have no business in the port. containers should be drayed to the trucking company yard without charging otr drivers extra money which is total insane. there's no way to run legal logs considering time it takes to deal with this port chaos everyday.

detention time is a joke trucking at the port. any port.i have been to more then my share. container moving should be paying an average of $85.00 per hr to the owner*operator trucker for the amount of bs he must go through. yep. i have been that route many times over. i will park the truck or use it to pull a camper before hooking up to another container box unless some outfit hands out serious money to make up for the daily port bs.

i agree 100% . pay has not kept up. fuel, parts, oil, tires are all up. general rates are not. thank fully a few of us have been around the port system long enough to squeeze extra but the rest are running their trucks in the ground living for the nxt paycheck.

We shall see July 1, 2013 unless the FMCSA backs off on the new regs.

hey guys,do u really think the new hours of service will make a difference to companies hauling containers out of the port? ha,ha,ha,ha they will replace o/os who drive by the rules which very few will. the remainder of drivers they lease their company owned trucks to facing a company payment every week deducted from their ck will run their ass off or lose the truck.

nothing new here driver. so where is this trucker shortage? that's the only remedy to this mess. right now the newbies continue to come like ants attracted to syrup. they are each willing to sign the truck leasing papers thinking independence day at last. these are dependent contractors not true owner operators. they are a huge cash cow for slick talking managers who take advantage of inexperience. most used port trucks change hands more then a dollar bill. jus saying

i don't think these new logging rules will matter in the container hauling business unless a big crackdown in enforcement at the trucking companies. they don't have the manpower to go after everyone.
