No Less Than 50
Attention all port drivers,
Are you tired of moving freight for a little of nothing? If you are not then you should not be driving. As business men and women we should be able to negotiate our rates to move freight. We should not allow our company to be controlled by these low paying trucking companies. It is our equipment, our time, and our labor that delivers the goods, so why aren’t we getting a decent pay. All port drivers must come together and demand that we will take no less than 50 per dray moves. Don’t allow these trucking companies to throw any pay rate at us to move their freight but instead we as business men and women should tell them what we will take to move their freight. We drivers play a major roll in getting the freight to and from the port and to its destination but are not getting what we deserve. Last time I checked, the freight starts with us, and if there is no us, then how would it get moved. When will we all stand together and say we are tired of being nickled and dimed for our service. A simple tire blow out or air spring replacement should make a days work worthless. Many of us will not survive if there were a major issue with our equipment (blown head, locked rear end). We have taken the time to put together a business to become an owner operator to get more in life but are being robbed of what we deserve. Crooks have many different methods of stealing and they are robbing us of our chance to have a successful business. We as drivers need to join together and demand our rates for getting freight to its destination.
How many times have you been told if you don’t somebody else will? This phrase is why all drivers MUST act as one to make this happen. Don’t be the one who will settle for pennies just to say you have a job. Why settle when you could have enough to have a successful business and more. Don’t be the one who takes any thing and ruine the chance for others to get whats deserve. Companies are receiving large profits because of the work we do, so where is our fair share. On the week of may 5, we will not be moving any freight until our terms are met. Remember it is our equipment being used and we are the ones out there sitting in long lines, putting up with the hassle on the port, and exposed to dangerous environments everyday. And lets not forget the dreaded DOT we deal with, who is waiting to put our equipment out of service for anything they could find. We all have been stopped by DOT and had them find something that we have to fix immediately in order to keep working. We are expected to maintain our equipment to pass DOT inspections but are not making enough to do so. And when issues are found by DOT, its our problem and if its something we cant fix right away we get replaced.
So lets make it worth the on the week of may 5, we will not be moving any freight until our terms are met. Again this will require all to act as one voice because one person alone they are in control but all together we can make our demands. As business owners we should be in control.
A House together is stronger than A House apart
