Porttrucker.com: Truckers voices are little more then annoying little monkeys in this game of power play.. Until drivers decide they've had enough of this foolishness just get used to being nothing more than trash because that's about all we are in the waterfront world of big intermodal business.. It's funny because if the ones who move this ocean cargo were ever to unite together (truckers) we could bring them to their knees at every port along the eastern seaboard in a matter of hours..... That means they would pay whatever $$$ it takes to move this cheap a$$ freight!
> I think world domination should be left to Dr. Evil, in the Austin Power’s movie. We, "annoying little monkeys in this game" can make a difference if the thinking of O/O's where turn around and place business first. They the "waterfront world of big intermodal business" are doing just that. From the ports to the carriers they watch their bottom line; as we "annoying little monkeys" sign on as lease / for-hire drivers do nothing to watch our bottom line. The best we can do is "move this cheap a$$ freight" while we put each other down, hence our own worst enemy. In the words of John Lennon, "Come together right now…." or continue to face the consequences. Drivers can stay in this O/Os' model business, if you learn as they do. You can start by organizing in your own carrier's backyard among your follow drivers.

Under the National Labor Relations Act, employees, but not independent contractors, have the right to organize a union. Therefore, Gutman thingyinson, an attorney for the Teamsters Port Division says, “If a company misclassifies its drivers as independent contractors when in fact they are employees, as is a common practice in port trucking across America, it is effectively telling workers that they cannot unionize, and thereby interfering, restraining, and coercing them in the exercise of their very basic rights to choose whether or not to form a union. The issuance of this Complaint by the Regional Director – and now the prosecution of the Complaint by the General Counsel of the NLRB – will send the message loud and clear to the trucking industry that misclassification carries a high price, and that companies can no longer violate the law with impunity without multimillion dollar liability, recurring labor unrest, and contempt of court, including fines and imprisonment.” Very interesting. Know anyone who is misclassify. This might help... www.justice4ladrivers.net/Release_4_20_16.pdfAlso on: The Trucker Report.com, Trucking Forum (http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/login)
