Anyone have one of these engines that can post some accurate fuel mileage details on here? I am looking at purchasing maybe a Detroit instead of a Cat in somewhere around 1990 year range..
looking at Pete 379 or W900L KW with one. I know the older Detroit's 92's especially 71 series were a dog but these have a very reliable reputation from what I gather and drove one a few years back and experienced the power of the 500HP Detroit, very impressive in the mountains

Figure I could use it for other jobs besides just port work. It also has a two line air PTO wet kit for dump trailer or lowboy without poney motor wetline! Since my hospital stay it's remained parked but maybe soon I can take it off to play. Wife says sell but that's not going to happen. Gives me hope just looking at it and cranking it up weekly...

Tell your wife to back off HardTime(no disrespect intended). Consider your truck as your lifeline to getting your health back even if you have to just give that Western Star a pat on the fender once a week. Sounds like a great ride. I should have stuck with a day cab instead of a big sleeper. The sleeper might be coming off this W900 soon.
