A crowd of drivers will be outside port gate # 4 on May1st to collect petitions and make the liner industry aware that nothing has changed since the April 3rd action on the fuel surcharge issue. The major change has been that the news media has been looking into the issue of where this money is actually going and that has attracted the attention of lawmakers who introduced a bill last week that if passed will make it illegal to pocket the fuel surcharges any longer. Only the weak give up or give in is what a hand full of drivers said who have been fighting this battle for years in Savannah. Many ILA members will join everyone for a lunch cookout during this event along side of the highway leading into the port.

that's prety much a dead issue driver. you can thank the powerful lobbist from the american trucking association and the big steamship line customers. the ata doesn't want their members pressuered to collect this or have to give it up to us when they do collect the fsc. the others just don't want to pay any extra to move the freight to their dc's.
