Speaking of the High Low Synchronizer in the Transmission Rear box can anyone tell me how big of a job is it to change this part out? Where can I take it to have it done at a reasonable price? I have an RTO 9 Speed.

If your in Savannah don't take it to Dixie Powertrain. They screwed up my 13 speed. Four days later in Iowa it locked up. after three weeks of fighting with them I purchased a used one at a truck salvage yard and had them install it. I never got any satisfaction from them over their screwup. I should have hired an attorney at that time but I didn't having to make up the work back out on the road. I don't think the back box is a big deal but ask around carefully to other drivers before letting anyone mess with your trans.

I have a synchronizer problem in my truck , but as long as I don't shift from high to low range while moving fast, it is fine. several mechanics told me, as long as I can shift gears , then just slow the truck down before going from high to low. they said people have had bad sync's for years and driven with no problems

it's only going to get worse.each time leaves metal in oil to screw up bearings later down road. i hear from mechanics sometimes it's a dirty air system which left buildup on the slider bar.
