Everything is just dandy in Georgia GPA. Cargo is flying, TWIC is in force and doing great, hell I need to pinch myself or , tell us what is really happening there. Give details. This is very important to IODA. We need to hear from you on current events. Its important for various reasons.

Only reason things seem to be just dandy, GPA ain't got large cargo volume any frigging way. Appears the big boys at GPA are still lying about actual volume. They did tell the local newspress things will be a little off through end of 2009. What is a little? Right now, one day is slow, the next day is normal/ average, nothing great. Slow days, get in and out quick. Norman/average, the checkers forget to quit screwing off and it makes the lines semi-long as if they are working their a##es off. Today the port was a little busy outbound, made finding chassis a real pain. GPA unstacked quite a few, but the bas*ards pulled down junk needing M&R work. Go figure, why stack junk and leave it in the pool. Darn, dumb of me, free o/o drayage happens unless you just refused the equipment and got the hell out bobtail, and it pisses off either your dispatcher if you left bobtail --for no pay to even look-or the overpaid ILA mechanics because you went to them for repairs. Either way the o/o catching grief, dispatch claiming they do not know how to help. Overpaid ILA mechanics do not give a squat and GPA claiming not to be an intermediary because it is between the trucker and the steamship line. To answer the TWIC question, the port does not have enough business to keep the ones of us with a TWIC busy. This does not scare our truck agents, no fear of paying more to an o/o with lean business overall and o/o's still available to take your place. Quit now. Rambling.

it's going to be worse after the holidays are over. this port doesn't give a s#^t about any workers even their own. this prick dougie that runs the georgia ports authority is a fu^king moron from way back. when freight does pick back up he may be dealing with a lot of drivers with long memories if we fu^king survive this mess. i promise we will make this b@st@rds life miserable when the shoe is on the other foot late next year. hang in there everyone the day will come they will need truckers late next year. as far as the longshore they cannot work on anything in the field other then what they are told to do by the lines. as long as we haul their fu^king garbage to the m&r repair nothing will change. right now we are stuck. the odds are stacked in managements favor but our day will come.

ILA guys have no control over what to work on. It's up to whoever is paying the maintenance/repair bill on the marine chassis or boxes. We are just being played in the middle as usual against everyone else who is paid on the clock at the terminal. We cost management nothing, provide a free standby service, transportation to the shop, along with any other service they decide to make part of our job to remove the box from the terminal. The only universal language they all understand is cost. Most port management is glad to sit down with local trucker groups to discuss problems that need corrected. It usually defuses the more radical driver population from taking any wildcat actions. Some even thank you for bringing these problems to their attention as if they never understood this issue existed before you knocked on their door. Talk also doesn't cost them anything. A cat scratching against your door doesn't get your undivided attention like a bear does. We need to become a bear through organizing with a real plan.

Hey wildman, there is going to be a few of these hi-flying agents standing in the soup line after the first of the year evicted from their commercial parking lot trailer homes. My junk is paid for so I am going to sit back and watch the sugar city soap opera ;D
