Hi All, Bostons been showing the TWIC cards for a while now and there has been very few problems. There are NO cardreaders of course! We scan our port authority cards and show our TWIC card at the gate and you're in. Work out of the port has been very erratic since October. The port has been easy to navigate through, unless your stuck in a row that's working the ship. There has been no sign of the Coast Guard at the port scanning the TWIC cards, as they had advertised they would. Maybe they don't have any scanners either! Hold onto those TWIC cards also! One driver at our company lost his card and it's been over three weeks and still no replacement, and that has meant NO pier access.
About 35 miles away there is a rail facility that receives containers from the west coast, they've closed two of their yards this year and are consolidating all the lines into one yard. Their trucks do many more moves out of Boston now, trying to offset the lack of work from their yard. Hopefully things may pick up soon!
