BEWARE of Powertrain, I had a rear go out. They made me a "deal" on a rear. $900.00 with 1 year warranty. Myself being a mechanic as well as steerer/gearer removed and replaced, using 5 gallons of gas to wash out the housing before replacement. 28 days and 5,000 miles later the bearing preload ring unscrewed itself. This I learned upon pulling the axles on the side of the road. Friend of mine towed me to powertrain. They immediately insinuated I might have "blown the ring out" Next day they called to say yep "we messed up, gonna fix you another one" ALL RIGHT GOOD PEOPLE,,,, NOT<<< they called back 15 min. later with a problem... whoever I paid to replace the last one didn't clean it out and it's got all kindsa metal in the housing... TWO options,,, pay us to clean it out OR we'll put it in as is but NO warranty on this unit.... WELLLLL how much labor to clean it out??? 400-500.00.... he said.. you can imagine what I said..... THEN I get home and checked for leaks,, none found,,, aight!!! pulled all week and on SAT morning at port I kept smelling HOT... felt rear and OUCH... it was HOT,,, got home and pulled the fill plug...,, almost 2 gallons low with still no leaks.... IF YOU DEAL WITH THEsE GUYS AND HAVE READ THIS THEN YOU WERE WARNED TO BEWARE.. I had 3 witnesses as to how clean the housing was when we put it in and I woulda ate out of it.. They didn't offer to pay for the two loads I lost OR pay my buddy for the tow...

Yes, it is one in the same,... I just had my drive train worked. 3 U-joints 3 yolks and a center bearing. I asked them to adjust my clutch also. $980 for the parts and labor. Not that bad.. But they then said that my clutch was at the end of it's adjustment and needed to be replaced. I am the only one who has driven my truck, since I installed the the clutch last time. I knew they were wrong.. I took my truck to the Diesel Doctor on Grange Rd. and they had that clutch ready in 20 mins. Well worth the $40 dollars instead of the extra $1200+ Power Train or Dixie Power Train which ever you prefer to call it tried to goose me out of!!

this bunch ruined a transmission of mine a few years back. i took it to them because sycro was grinding between range. i wanted a complete rebuild. they called them self rebuilding it. everything was supposed to be replaced bad including all bearings but when i got it back in truck it locked up three hundred feet from the driveway. three times the tranny came out with more problems. i lost a month of work because of their mistakes. two months later they wound up replacing it with a used one they came up with which supposedly had very little miles. so that's now the fourth time in shop. until i sold the truck the replacement made a wining sound but i didn't go back for fear of spending more downtime because of idiots.
