We are working on the agenda and place right now. A trucker meeting will be called within the next few weeks so stay tuned. The word will be posted here as well as leaflets circulated out at the Garden City port terminals.

hey guys, let's make something happen as far as a sugar town meeting between now and the holidays. the natives are getting restless. we want to hear some kind of plan, anything! this year is a wash for everyone. at least for truckers around here it is. i have never seen rates this bad. road work is for fools unless you have your own gig. can you believe they are still getting drivers at .87 per pc mile? i hope no one reading this is working for that. if you are your working for pure s#*t. your agent is making money because he-she doesn't have any rolling iron. at todays' prices under $1.35 per practical mile your on the way out of business.

From what I understand it went very well. I think some of that will be discussed in a small meeting to take place next week.

we need to shut this georgia port down for about a week or two. it gets worse every day around here. the companies are 99% crooks who steal our money out in the open as they are so used to doing business this way without anything legal being done about it. it seems most drivers here are either to d**n stupid to check behind or just scared of the company they lease to.

It all sounds good RoadRunner, u and I will park our trucks but many more will steel the chance 2 haul the b***sh**. These companies can make a difference by not taking cheap freight. As long as companies can make a profit by any means f@@@ our equipment.

As long as companies can make a profit by any means f@@@ our equipment. We have a plan for truckers that will actually help the trucking companies involved. I hope to have a meeting soon in Savannah. We have been postponing this because we wanted to nail some details down but it will soon happen. There is a good group of truckers helping with this so I hope we will all be able to see some results over time. I know everyone wants something now as I would like to see but we are not going to give this a half baked try without having everything lined up to make it work the first time.

Hang in there Roadrunner. I know it's rough but just maybe it'll all be worth the stress next year if we can obtain a real trucker contract. I'm not talking about any Teamster clean truck/employee mandate plan to run off the owner-operator trucker either. I own my tractor and I don't plan on giving it up to drive a company truck without a fight. The sad part is O/O truckers could be unionized without giving up their trucks and the Teamsters know that but allowed this Change-To-Win labor group to take over their port driver campaign running it into the ground.
Ninty percent of drivers hauling cans around the nation are O/O truckers.
They promised us years back they would help the trucker as an O/O find a means to negotiate a collective bargaining agreement but they reneged on that obligation when handing the keys over to CTW. The only thing they are all interested in now is the fast track to dues paying members, so what if they screw the O/O trucker in the process.
More on this later....
What's important now is we are all in this same boat together. Our top priority at the present time is to start slowly building driver numbers into the new year so we will have a strong base to call on next year when the time is right.

I have been under stress for more years than I care to remember so what's another year if we succeed? I'll get my jollies watching those real slim ball motor carriers leave the business when we win this thing. Some of these crooked b@st@rds in Sugar town deserve to be covered in hot tar and feathered before sending them on their way.

The agents don't give a d**n about breaking us, our equipment, or slashing the rates just as long as they make their commission on the load. Their desk, phone, computer, and office trailer doesn't suffer the expensive repairs, maintenance, or burn hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel each month.

The port of Savannah's Garden City terminal is the worse facility I have ever had the experience to pick up a box in. I spent an hour and a half locating a decent chassis that wasn't stripped by voltures. The chassis pools look like scrap yards full of rusted junk. The only thing missing is a large metal shredder along with a crane with a magnet. The port controlled traffic patterns are a nightmare to maneuver in with out getting killed or ones truck destroyed. Most numbers are confusing or non existent on the ground. Everything is scattered over the entire complex in a totally disorderly fashion like a hurricane has passed through. GOD knows stop at every intersection or any other place you think there should be stop painted on the ground because the port police look for any violation to harass truckers. I was stopped while using my cell phone trying to get information on where I was supposed to find the right stack. You gentlemen who have to work there each day must be close to going postal. I won't be back to Savannah again unless the box is outside on the terminal yard.

Hi Brad, I'll make sure you find out about the next meeting. Several of us will first have a board meeting in Feb to go over a few things happening so you'll get an email on this. Sorry to hear about your bad luck. It remains tough times out here but I think we are going to see a decent turn around this summer with freight. Hang in there....
