It would be nice Mr Moderator to have a section on trucks for sale or truck related parts for sale. Just a suggestion if you can place that on here somewhere.

I'm thinking about buying a truck to pull containers. Anybody have any ideas to share about the specifications on the truck. I'll be pulling overweight sometimes. I need ideas about wheelbase, rear end ratio, transmission, total weight of truck, 5th wheel height and slide or no slide, and anything else that would be helpful. Thanks in advance. 7mileman

hey bud, u picked one hell of a time to buy a truck. the port rates suck and the work is sporadic. i would wait a month or two before taking the plunge. there are guys parking their trucks everywhere waiting it out til the freight out numbers the truckers out here. as far as a truck is concerned i would buy something non computer/electronic that u can get worked on cheaply to start with. don't get past the fifteen thousand dollar mark. most trucks that would have cost twenty five last year can be bought for ten to fifteen thousand now. i like day cabs because you can get a return on your money back if u decide to sell after this business drives u mad at the port. short haul is the ticket anyway right now.
