Hello everyone. I'm interested in coming to the driver meeting to be held. I own my truck and work mostly short haul out of PMT. When this meeting is coordinated please post the details here if you would. There have been meetings in the past but the word didn't make it out until late. I think this is an excellent source for communication to the drivers. I'll do my part to spread the word about this forum to others at the port.

Hello, I'm new here but count me in too. I have researched enough on your site to peak my interest. That's why I joined. We definitely need a change of direction if truckers are to succeed in this type work.

I knew that subject title would get your attention Hello everybody I think you should name the newly formed port driver association at your very first meeting the "The Battered Maritime Trucker Abuse Club" Kind of grows on you doesn't it? OK, OK, you can thank me later. Just a suggestion The important thing is start getting it together making plans to have one so we can all be on the same page UNITED working toward the same goal. Can you get a banner with this on it ;D

It's about time men. I have been down for sometime due to major repairs but am back in the saddle. Good to hear things are moving along toward getting some action going.

A banner is ok , but, I know of a small sign place in Portsmouth who makes placcards for companies like RDT . He only charges $35.00 per set . He could make them for every one. Maybe we could talk him into a group discount if every one wants to put a small business id for him on the trucks...

I think he is just ribbing largecar about a banner as largecar is probably ragging everyone with that crazy name he posted

Shortcircut, from what I have read you have been trying to get their attention for years. Its time to get the customers attention by becoming the only company that has all the owner operators pulling boxes in Virginia.

yes I have. when I started there were maybe 30 trucking companies and then, that could be done reasonably . Now, it's a different story. there were over 140 companies the last time I counted , that was last year . Another comapny is NOT the answer. again, as indvidual , we can be stopped, either by having our contract broken, or just out right being banned from the port ( I have had that happen to me, it ain't fun either) , but as one large group, we have d**n near the power of God ( please pardon the phrase) , we can make almost anything happen.

We could cut 140 cmpanies to maybe 10 and rates would change quickly.

oh yeah. but as long as the drivers are willing to cut each others throats and work for chicken s#*t money, that will not happen.
