OOCL Rate Increase
2010-6-10 Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) is set to implement a general rate increase on its services to North America.
From 1 April 2010 cargo loading or discharging at USA or Mexican ports face an additional charge of $400 per teu and $500 per feu.
OOCL said ocean rates for cargo loading or discharging at Montreal will be increased by $320 per teu and $400 per feu from the same date.
Ocean freight rates continue to be below the required level to cover basic operating costs or transportation costs, OOCL said. It added: The increases are required in order to maintain a viable service level and a comprehensive liner network. It said further rate restorations to be applied during 2010 will be announced in due course.
