Let's see now. $.60 cents per mile to operate on fuel alone not counting truck necessities such as maintenance, tires, insurance, brakes, depreciation, payments, driver pay, license, taxes all comes out to $1.50 per mile at the very least. So providing the serve-u trucker gets the high end of this fabulous pay scale the poor sap just went $.32 cents a mile in the red Of course this math is only true if the trucking dispatcher is figuring actual driving miles to customer & back not PC, household, or zip code mileage. Oh almost forgot, it's those awful dray charges if you don't pick up or turn in your box

Where does it say $30,000 a year! It is $12,000 a year for 36 months! Where I went to school that is a total of $36,000. Including Tags and Highway use tax in that figure.... But you could lease a second truck and come up with your figure.

company agent where i lease to has old stevens trucks-wore slam out pulling reefer cross country. i don't know but he maybe picked them up for $12,000-seen them advertised for that in lot of five or more- now he's selling them each over and over at $28,000 with weekly payments making anyone an independent contractor. what a deal for dummies. i purchased my truck at dealership so i don't belong to his company store. these trucks each have been sold over six times apiece to different suckers. all the same story. they can't pull what he demands they pull and make anything after deductions come out of check. i chose my loads , they may not like that program but to bad . that's my deal or i go elsewhere. these guys are stuck from day one signing truck leasing agreement with this moron manager. they can't take this truck anywhere except where he tells them to.

Basically the same thing at Evans Delivery. He says they are financing $30,000 for 3 years at $500 per week. The trucks are all 700,000 + miles . When paid for the driver will paid a total of 72,000 over 36 months not counting fuel .

Again Where in the ad did it say $500.00 per week?
The base payment, bob tail, physical damage, occ acc, escrow, and security deposit might add up to that figure, but any smart business man or woman knows that is not to be figured in the price of the truck....

no where in the ad does it say $500 per week rocket scientist ! I know it is $500 per week for 3 years because that idiot , whom I thought was a friend, tried to sucker me into that crap. I also know that buying a truck , excluding fuel , will NOT cost me $72,000 over 3 years to run . I got my 2003 with less miles for $14,500 , not $30,000 . and to "qualified drivers means anyone with a pulse

this company i'm leased at takes out $410.00 each week from these poor boys for the truck payment alone. full coverage damage insurance on truck, kick back on price of fuel at pump, along with many extra deductions which no one seems to know what for. he also requires them to put up $2000.00 in escrow at $100.00 per week until paid which never comes back in case they quit leaving truck for next person to be independent contractor. what a nice racket this dude has going on top of making agency freight fees. like i said before these same trucks have been sold several times before. they will continue to have new so called owners. i talked to two guys the other day who are about to walk away from their trucks. they both work 24/7, pull overweight, everything told to do by dispatch. it's their first time ever thinking they are a real owner operator trucker. they make approximately $150 to $300 per week before taxes after company makes trip deductions and they will never come close to finally owning the junk they are driving for this agent. i go trip lease my truck when another agent has hot loads to move. he doesn't like it but it;s my truck so if the company loads don't pay good money i don't pull them. he has twelve trucks he leases drivers so they get to pull all the garbage

there are dozens of these sleeeeeeezy companies into the used truck finance business to create instant independent contractors and make a killing off their drivers. i wonder if they would be required to have a state dealers license? now that would be interesting to find out. if you sell a certain amount of autos a year you have to have a dealers license so what about it?

I totally agree Red . That fool at Evans screws each and every driver who he comes across. People like that are the lowest form of life that live on this planet !

Lack of VA Dealers license for selling over priced trucks to drivers? Call it leasing or what ever, it's still a motor vehicle transaction that is performed many times during the year by acting agents of the motor carrier. Interesting concept. Sounds like something an attorney should get involved with.

It would seem to me that trucking company would investigate a agent representing them that has a high turn over in drivers, especially if the same VIN # for a truck keeps getting registered with different drivers.
