all the same players, just different names. Rail Port has a big following because the owners will bankroll you if you break down and a lot of guys need that security. This is the OLD all coast/first coast bunch but the owner of both found out he was being made a part of the rip offs and cut their )SS's off. So they switched names to railport,,, part of eleets.. My advice is stay away. you get down you prob'ly won't be getting up.

I do not know who posted this but you do not have your facts straight. I have personally owned Allcoast/Firstcoast here in Chesapeake,va for now five years and have never been or will ever be connected or associated with Railport in anyway. I do my best to take care of my Truckers in ways you will never know because if you posted this you don't know me. I have drivers who have been with me since i opened and i have keep them from going under in this economy we have all had to deal with. So before you talk about me please have your facts straight.

facts are;your not the motor carrier owner but just another agent for them. this happened in south georgia/carolina. drivers are still involved in lawsuit over stealing money.that agent also claimed he looked out for those loyal owner operators all the while cooking the books. i'm one of those who got clipped in dishonest daily racket over changing what loads actually should pay o/o among many fictitious deductions. facts are; container freight rates are cheap as sh*t when it comes to paying us without all the stealing that continues to go unchecked.at least we took action against this criminal but sadly to late for many truckers who lost everything. if you really are doing what u claim than your one of a very small minority when it comes to the majority of agents who see their truckers as an instant atm machine anytime they need extra cash.

You are correct He was a thief and corporate wise he is being taken care of, as for me i was a driver for 28 years and treat mine as i always wanted to be treated. Our rates out of Norfolk are better then those down there but you are correct in alot of agents make their money off drivers which is wrong and i pride myself in not charging my drivers for tires as well as perdiem unless it is from their complete negligence. i do beleive most of my drivers like working for First Coast in Norfolk, but as you know you cant make everybody happy all the time. Just a thought(we are not all bad)but many do give us agents a bad name and for that i do apologize.
Sincerely trying to help all truckers here.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Word gets around but he's never left the business. Another thief with a driver following just like Tony Sapp or Com-check Connie. Savannah port breeds this type lowlife agent.

My husband and I are both o/o's that are leased to First Coast of Virginia. My truck has been there for over two years and my husband and several of our close friends have moved there in the last year. Nothing is perfect in the world of containers but we are pretty happy here! The agent is probably the fairest that I have come across which is why I still have my truck there and didnt play the hop around game even when things were slow. I have been in the business for about 15yrs and actually most of that was in the office. I went back in the truck in the last few years because I couldnt deal with the unfairness to drivers that so many of you get upset about. So.. I would like to think that I am a pretty good judge of who is fair or not.. and our agent is.. We all have chosen to be in the container business for various reasons.. my reason is to be at home everyday with my lil boys!.. so of course we are not getting rich and things are not as good as they were 5yrs ago but.. I know at First Coast that he is in this boat with us.. we get 100% of the fuel surcharge, detention, overweight, and any other accesorial charges (and yes.. he will show you the billing!). I know that in the worst of times that their were weeks that this man didnt pay himself because it just wasnt there after paying everyone else. I'm sure that I will get hammered for being a kiss-ass or working for that agent but that is not the case. My point of this whole thing is that there are good agents out there. Is this the dream job for every o/o... No of course not.. it's still containers, you still have to deal with the crap at the piers, we do haul more weight than we used to (but get paid overweight if it is) and of course the rates are not where any of us would like (the o/o's or the agent) but I think we have a pretty good thing going for the most part and I dont see myself or most of the o/o's that are there going anywhere. We have had steady work for almost a year now, which means a steady paycheck (which are right every week 99.9% of the time), and have been able to almost dig out of the hole that was created when the economy went in the toilet a few years ago. I think that this board can be a great tool for port truckers to find out the good/bad but I think that we need to be more specific on where the terminals are bc there are diff. agents in each state most of the time (if not more than one in each state). I also think we all need to figure out where we can have a voice at the port level. The agent we work with is good about voicing frustrations in his outlets but I think that we should also have a place to have input..but this wont happen with a lot of the attitude most of the time.. we need to be able to give real suggestions and ideas without just plain attacking.. that will get us no where!

i think that was very well put and we do need to point out the good, that is more helpful than the bad,I'm seeing a little more activity on this site and I'm glad because this is the best tool we have rite now to communicate

Hey Cheez.. I so agree.. this board can be a great tool for us to communicate.. maybe we can help each other figure this stuff out... I just really feel like we need a new approach.. There are bad agents out here.. we need to weed them out and band together with the good companies to fight the problems with the customers/steamship lines/piers... as long as these sheisty companies are out here with the truckers who will haul freight for nothing are out here.. nothing will change.
