I know with the abundance of unsteady cheap freight all of you are going to participate in the cash for clunkers program here in VA. Run to the dealer. Let everybody get $35,000 in debt together and have to rely on the crooked trucking companies out here for our well being. I just got the paperwork and just can't see how anybody could justify doing this with all we have been through. Most of us are lucky to have been able to pay off the truck we have.

I'll just keep my classic 1986 359exhd Peterbuilt thank you. 2007 engines are total expensive junk. The rush to please the clean air zombies has created a new breed of add on devises that will bite you in the a$$. My 88' mechanical 475hp big cam IV Cummings is no more polluting than these $135,000.00 clunkers being promoted as so clean you can breath the exhaust fumes. Give us a break. Yeah right, lol making the finance payment plus upkeep expenses on these white elephants while hauling boxes. Funny, I have one of these clean air port freaks across the hwy from me constantly promoting this green propaganda who's family auto is a Ford Expedition. Go figure?

Hey tarbaby , your truck will probably still be running when theothers are sitting in salvage yards . I have a 03 Columbia ( paid for) that is pre emission ( thanksGod) and it will still be running when these emissioned controlled trucks are on the backs of wreckers

I bought into that notion for the cash-for-clunkers and if you would understand the dynamics of tax depreciation, then you would too had bought a newer truck. Everyone's finances are not the same, that said I checked with other drivers outside our industry (containers) and they said they would had jump on the opportunity if given the chance. You also have to think that after purchasing a newer truck that fuel mileage is increased, saving you money on the moves. And if you decide to sell, your truck is worth more. Now here's the clincher, If you voted for Obama then you are paying through his policies. And as an added bonus, there is healthcare. Think drivers...

I've got a twenty year old Pete with pre-epa-dpf Detroit doing 7.5 miles per gallon. 600 HP after update. I owe no money so why in the world do I want a new headache? I understand why some want new but that doesn't fit my needs. I have plenty write offs in trucking without the payments of new. If new was so great Fitzgerald in Tn and these others building gliders wouldn't be doing the huge business they are from the trucking companies.
