It seems like this website is just full of negative drivers. The ones the write the bad words and nothing but negative things about drivers. That is where drivers get such a bad reputation. If you notice it is the same fat cheeseburgers that write in all the negative about trucking companies . Get a job.

Sarah, I totally agree. The ones who are griping and complaining are the ones who don't want to work in the first place! They leave companies owing money for fuel, fuel taxes, damages they know they did, and then want to slander the trucking company for their mistakes while hiding their identity. They have to make themselves look good! (if only it would help ;D) If they would all learn "teamwork" be on time, communicate, and mistakes are going to happen no matter who you are, this industry would turn around. But for some reason, most drivers are all for themselves and themselves only, which defeats the whole purpose. We have a great group of drivers now and we take care of one another. It took us a while to weed out the bad apples, but we did it.

WOW, Wonder why most truckers are so negative . Could it be 99.9% of the container hauling companies or their local agents are screwing everyone over. Now that's teamwork ;D

this one is for Sarah who ever you are, since you brought me into this all i can say is if you think things are good in the container bis in Savannah you must be one of the flipping agents that are stealing from the top or after a driver leaves because he cant survive, and then you wonder why they don't want to run your garbage.,because any one with any since would know its not good.

and for melissa as you call yourself I'm pretty sure i know who posted this one and I'm not the one who has a long list of drivers claiming they were cheated out of money you earned that one, so lets not throw stones and talk about team players and out for our selfs,we buy these trucks and run them for us and our family's, not for you cheating agents.

It took us a while to weed out the bad apples, but we did it. Hey ladies, I'm all for teamwork. Let's organize a hiring hall shop with a trucker-carrier contract. These one-sided leasing agreements are trash. Once we're all on a level playing field you'll have the very best to chose from but be ready to pay for your trucker teamwork services. What a radical idea! _ Having to actually pay for trucker services_ Yeah, make everyone a true team player when it comes time to share in the profit. Boy that's a scary thought isn't it. Just think, hard working Owner-Operators making as much or more than you do. Do you really want good drivers, good equipment, responsible truckers, excellent customer service? At a buck per mile (which seems to be a broken record for intermodal) that's not ever going to happen in this business. It would seem by now smart agents, company managers, or the steamship lines themselves would wise up or figure out that trucker bankruptcies and a 138% turnover rate is not good for the overall business model but only works for the many thieves that port hauling has attracted. To operate with any profit, pay yourself, make proper repairs, or invest in newer equipment a trucker needs at least $1.50 per-every-real-mile-traveled with a regulated adjustable fuel surcharge to protect against spikes. Anything lower than that is going out of business!!!!!!!

Cheezeburger, I was not knocking anyone. I agree with drivers that they need more money. But no need for anyone to be writing nasty words and filth, it just makes drivers look bad. I consider my husband and brother to be as good as anyone.hard working and honest. They have worked hard to pay off their trucks and keep them going. They have also tried a lot of different companies. Drivers need to look after each other.

I would stand behind a driver who stands up for him or her self and tells it like it is VS a corporate ass kisser agents like these two moronic biotches Sarah and Melissa . They "weeded out the bad ones" , no they just kept the ass kissers and got rid of those who will stand up for themselves !

your right about the buck fifty per every mile dieseljockey. the rates on these containers are totally insulting crap. i cannot believe anyone can operate on what many of the companies are paying around here. i had a leaflet on my windshield again this morning placed there by one of the local agents wanting trucks. they try convince you to move to them but when said & done they all pay same crap. there is clearly a shortage of trucks out here but the rate game deception on us being played between trucking companies is still strong. i notice the new deal now is several have raised rates but lowed the % they pay from loads. i guess they think everyone is completely stupid that owns a truck in the south. i don't know of truckers have the guts to stand up anymore but something needs to happen soon.

Give them heck guys and galls , don't pull for anyone who thinks they own YOUR tractor . Ask your placcard holder where is the team work when you are out in the heat of summer and cold of winter under that tractor turning wrenches and spending money on that tractor everyday , where's that team work at ? Thats what I thought .

GOOD POINT DRIVER. WHERE'S THIS GREAT TEAMWORK WHEN YOUR STUCK IN PORT FOR HOURS WAITING ON SUPPOSEDLY PRE-TRIPPED JUNK CHASSIS TO BE REPAIRED,WAITING AT TROUBLE WINDOW WITH BAD DISPATCH,WAITING IN FIELD FOR MOUNT/DISMOUNT WHILE SIX CRANES SIT IDLE IN NEXT ROW, DISPATCHED ON ONE WAYS WITHOUT MY (COMPANY TEAMMEMBER) WANTING TO PAY ANYTHING FOR BOBTAIL OR DRY RUNS. WHERE IS TEAMWORK WHILE WAITING AT CUSTOMER DOCK FOR HOURS ON LOAD THAT BILLED AS READY TO GO. WHERE IS TEAMWORK TO BACK YOU UP WHILE PORT AUTHORITY,STEAMSHIP LINES,CUSTOMER CONSTANTLY WANTS TRUCKER TO DO MORE FREE WORK. TEAMWORK, BAAAAAAA HUMBUGGGGGGG

very well said truckerusa,I'm glad to see that a lot of the drivers feel the same and we are able to see threw the fake messages posted by agents,i feel this melissa is a agent and i think i know who she is.i know of one agent that truly believes that if she gets a driver that is only needing beer money and will run any crap she has to make her paycheck that is a good one and the ones that say say they are not running that cheap crap need to be weeded out.i say lets weed out these kind of BROKERS OR AGENTS. DRIVERS PARK YOUR TRUCKS SAY NO,SHUVE THAT CHEAP FREIGHT DOWN THERE THROAT,thats our only way of stopping this

so what do we do about this crap in savannah ladies & gents? i for one am willing to pass out fliers calling for a driver meeting to discuss issues. does anyone have a plan or do we just do nothing? there was a strong driver group here years ago.why not try that again. there are no checks on these companies. they do what they please to truckers at this port. your right on point. they steal money from us everyday. it is only going to get worse not better.

The companies love to hire these BRAIN DEAD ZOMBIES then lease them a company truck making them full fledged independent operators. That's another reason the rates are suppressed because until recently there has been a steady supply of idiots behind the wheel that couldn't tell you how much the expenses of running a business are. Hopefully freight picks up next year making it harder to recruit these individuals that are willing to haul any load without question.

the old way of doing truckin at the ports is broken. we as o/o truckers need to somehow gain power in numbers. i don't know the answer to make that work. i do know this. the present way of doing business without any legal restriction on the trucking company crooks is certainly no longer an option. we must unite and do whatever it takes.

these local freight agents are running us all out of business while stealing every ga trucker blind. how many drivers will stick together to do anything about these problems in savannah, ga. if you could get 75% of driver population to work together we could clean up the thieving agencies in this port city.

your right driver. the deck is stacked against anyone making money hauling these boxes for the area motor carriers. savannah agents know just how much money to pay out to keep you as dependent trucker, not independent trucker.

does anyone else notice many of the companies have reduced the percentage pay this year. it's the new game after raising rates to customer reduce the % to trucker. it keeps u making same $$ as before the rate change. they must think every trucker out here is stupid as sh^t but then look at our track record of acceptance to whatever they say goes.

sounds like alot of you are getting the big picture but how many of you are willing to park and save your trucks for a better day.I'm not just talking i was a owner-op for 32yrs,never worked as a company driver before but i took a stand and you can too.I'm making enough to pay my bills and waring out company equipment, not the way i want to do it but if these company's want to give cheap rates let them provide the equipment.sooner or later there wont be enough trucks and rates will have to go up////////. i was averaging 9-1100 a week with a truck and now I'm averaging 8-900 a week with no repairers, fuel, tires ,insurance, plates, you get the picture.PLEASE AS MANY OF YOU THAT CAN SAY NO TO CHEAP FREIGHT.

If your not making @ least $1.60 per mile at today's prices your not in the trucking business but on a suicide mission. If the trucking company wants to pick up the entire tab for fuel than run for a buck no less. I agree park the truck if paid for or give it back. The trucking company agents I know who own trucks don't work for these ridicules rates.
