well i can say that the Gilco in Charleston sc is pretty good. I just posted another thread here about them a few mins ago. Im not sure about the Norfolk location, but you guys have to remember that the name Gilco is just that, a name, the local offices are ran by individuals normally from that area, they rate the freight and make the calls, so i say if you don't know the ppl who run the office, DONT WORK FOR THEM!!!! you have to be careful in this business, i been hauling containers since the late 80s here in Charleston, and i can honestly say that the guy who runs Gilco in Charleston is a good guy, and im sure that the drivers who work there that are serious about working will say the same thing, i think he is opening an office in Savannah as well, im not sure tho. the guys name in Charleston is Justin. there is a group of is (about 5 o/os) that have been with him for over a year, and he has finally opened up his own agency in Charleston. However thats not to say everything is prefect, however ill say again, if you don't know the ppl running the office, DO NOT WORK FOR THE AGENCY!!! most are crooks!!!!

It realy amazes me what a man has to go through o make a pay check. the reason these people are geting away with the things they do is ..........GET READY IS BECAUSE WE LET THEM....... A trucker used too be respected as a strong indepndent person. they turned us against each other and one by one you will go down alone........FREAKING SAD ............

Your absolutely right driver. One of our biggest problems is most drivers out here don't have a clue what it takes to own a truck. I'm glad I see some people finally posting what it takes to operate. This forum should have a special place just for that. Trucking 101. Hundreds out here need to be educated on that subject so they'll stop taking these d**n cheap loads.

Amazing how professional some agents really are! I wonder if Big Daddy himself knows you are out there putting him in such a distasteful way? Perhaps he needs to know "member"!

Bigdaddy.... Why are you as a owner only offering 74% and keep 26% of fuel. Your sorry a** should not keep any fuel cause you are not buying any fuel sitting behind he desk and that's stealing. I don't see where you are any better than Gilco or any of them cause at least they say they are giving 100% FSC to us. Besides with Big daddy drivers, you'll be shut down in a few years with CSA2010 cause you guys hire anyone that can hold a steering wheel. Trust me you guys hired my friend after getting turned down at 4 companies ,so he has to stay with you guys

Big Daddy Drayage Mike Gallagher Pete Mullins Venture Enterprises 575 Avenue P,Newark NJ Newark, NJ Savannah, Ga Charleston SC New Jersey 12345 U.S.A. Phone: Web Address:
Category: Attorney Generals
Submitted: Thursday, July 24, 2008 Last posting: Wednesday, June 03, 2009 These Folks were involved in a transaction together back on February 1 that involved the acquisition of a Local Trucking Agency that employed about 30 contract drivers, including myself. They made a lot of promises that things would not change for the worse in any way, and we would all make more money if we stayed. They couldnt keep our Fuel Cards up to date, we could not get any kind of trip advance, and they were always coming up short on payroll EVERY week. When they were approached on the errors, they went into a little song and dance on how they would take care of it immediately, and it would take them 2-3 weeks. By then they had made 2-3 more errors, so they were a thousand dollars or so behind, but they would catch it up as soon as possible. Then they snuck outta town like a thief in the night, owing everyone for a week's payroll, plus the escrow they had deducted roughly 600 dollars per driver + a week's earnings.

BEWARE Gilco in Sav was closed last I heard. I worked there for a while and only got payed twice so I had to move on.. I am in the process of suing them now to get my money. It is run out of Atlanta. The owner Irving seems like a nice guy but will not PAY. Lots of turnover in the office and noone wants to be responsible.
