A few of us here in the Newport News,VA area are thinking of forming a new group specifically geared toward Tidewater owner#operators. I am hoping that we can find support from many of you on this forum. At present there are only a handful of us who are contributing members but we'll keep everyone informed of our progress. We certainly would appreciate any suggestions that serious minded drivers would like to contribute. As of now this is not going to be officially announced until sometime after the New Year. However we have contacted legal counsel to discuss the best way to set up such a venture.

I think there are several people here that have had experience with doing just what you are talking about. Not to sound like a smart ass but my advice would be to make contact with them before any past mistakes are repeated. Please keep everyone updated on this forum.

I have been pulling containers since 1994 and an owner op off and on since 2000 . If someone has some serious and new ideas, I would be glad to help any way I can, but, if it the same old "Biotch Sessions" then no need in wasting anyones time. I have seen atleast 4 groups since 2000 and not a single one has accomplished anything. I have contacts in this area and other ports and would be glad to help put people in contact with each other so that as a GROUP ( meaning more than one port) we can finally have some control in our outcome. I know of some fools who told a group from another area that they didn't want their help or even any input from them becasue what happens in this area is none of their business. To these dumbasses I say this, what ever happens anywhere in this country is all of our business because it effects us all. These ships can be moved when ever the shiplines choose to

you drivers make it harder for those who really want to work. give it up. get back to your job before we hire more truckers willing to take your place. there are plenty trucks available in tidewater to pull our boxes off the port. the worse complainers are on this silly forum. i find a name who is leased to me and you will be black balled in this area. think about that hard. no work.. no truck.. your choice.

Thanks for your response everyone. Here is an update. We met with an attorney today at a satellite office he has in Newport News. He has a law firm in Norfolk that represents some major labor groups including the steel workers where we met. He informed us he has represented several of you before. Actually he knows about the trucker group here. This attorney said he would call a few of you to set up an appointment either by conference call or to meet in person. The group looks forward to making these arrangements soon.
