Hey this is actually GILCO. The logistics company has a website & is located in Wilmington, NC. One driver told me this afternoon Gilco expected him 40% of the time to drop hook after arriving in Anderson, go to another location twenty plus miles away, live load a back haul & drag it over two hundred miles back for a total of $640.00 in pay. HELL the original drop-n-hook run pays $570.00 then returns with an empty back to the Savannah port. That in itself is not nearly enough for the drop-n-hook but to live load for another shipper & pull that load back for $70.00 more bucks? You got to be I hope no one falls for this baloney .

Where do these motor carriers or their agents come up with this cheap crap? I just saw an add by Evans Delivery of Charleston paying .86 per mile plus FSC. The Teamsters union no longer needs to pressure the ports to get rid of the owner-operator model. The trucking companies are doing a fine job preparing for an all company driver fleet by running everyone out of business

Hardtime.... .86 plus fsc is about what I'm seeing since last week when shopping around for a home for my truck in savananh if I decide to leave the scrap hualing full time back to containers at the ports. I'm almost liking the .86 or .90 a mile plus FSC layout over some of the 72% or 70% companies cause who knows what the rate is or not of what % . I've actually heard ok things about ATC , Evans, & I asked about Old Domion also & all the guys seemed all ok. If the rates are set, then its up to us to not lease on and not pull the freight . The guys said they was at least keeping busy pulling boxes and not sitting, which is what I"m looking for.

A couple drivers I talked with who are ready to quit said they are averaging a little over eighty cents per actual mile traveled while hauling at Evans so that's a going out of business rate. Fuel cost at .60 per every mile go figure the rest... I guess we'll see what happens in the NewYear. In order to turn a little profit for yourself you need at least $1.50 per mile. That's pretty much impossible as so long as these container companies find folk to work for these rates.

Sometimes it's better just to park the old truck at the house until companies decide to get serious about moving customer cargo. Of course those drivers that have big payments or lease their truck from the company store have limited choices in this matter. This time of year I always do repairs & maintenance for a few weeks anyway. We will see what 2011 looks like soon enough.

Trucker, You're right on the money and I have a decent truck payment on my hands and have to keep working somewhere. I'll keep all of that in mind on what drivers are saying, but years back I had a decent paying lease with containers making .88 plus fsc, but again we only got 3-4 loads a week and the diesel has doubled since then. Honestly I don't think any of them asking for trucks has anything to offer over the next one. Maybe CSA2010 or whatever will tighten up the trucks for hire and make the rates go up somehow.

Hey guys,
just an FYI, Gilco in Charleston is a great company, its owned and ran by an x-O/O, im not sure the exact details of this but the guy who is running the loadmatch thing is in there office, if you have any questions about the pay then id suggest calling and talking to the guy in charge, you have to ask for the guy by name, his name is Rich. Loadmatch is a good company tho. Im leased on to Gilco in Charleston and have no complaints, well no more than the normal i guess, i been with the guy who runs Gilco over there for over a year, theres one thing about him, if a load is overweight or you have detention, i can honestly say he will pay and will get you your money.. just an FYI

I have been trucking now for over 14 years I pulled containers in and out of the savannah ports for years and I know for a fact that's one hell of a place to go into. I also ran over the road and I still heard drivers complaining about their jobs. For years drivers talked about doing something about the problems but they never did, all they did was what they always do and that is complain and the companies know you don't have the balls to stand up to them. that's all you guys and gals are going to do is keep on crying like some little baby's

that is why a few sav drivers are having a meeting ths sat. talking on the cb is not going to get it done. at least for the ones that put this meeting together you have to give them a little credit for attempting to start somewhere. i know , i know it has been done before but failed n sav. why - because truckers do not stick together. maybe it will work this time around or maybe not. we will never know until we try. i do know a few of these drivers have a good idea how to make things better around here. so give them a chance or stay home. easy choice the way i see it.

Well said driver. No matter which part of the business we are in, the key is Teamwork. No individual has sufficient experience, education, native ability, and knowledge to ensure the accumulation of a great fortune without the cooperation of other people. So, let's get together, understand, respect, and solve our differences so together we will all make money!!!
Stay safe
