Port reports operating profit for March, By Robert McCabe. The Virginian-Pilot. April 23, 2015
Record container volume at the port in March resulted in an operating profit of $1.6 million, putting it back in the black after two consecutive months of losses, the Virginia Port Authority announced Wednesday.
"It is a modest financial result that helps to correct the financial course of January and February, but as we addressed the severe congestion that we experienced in March, there was considerable hardship placed along all the points in the supply chain, especially to the motor carriers," John Reinhart, the authority's executive director and CEO, said in a statement.
"Our delivery of service in March was unacceptable and these profits will be reinvested in short-term projects and long-term capital solutions to help process cargo and address the increasing volumes."
The port lost $1 million in January and $560,000 in February. Losses had been budgeted for both months.
For the first nine months of its July to June fiscal year, the authority has posted an operating profit of $6.2 million. That's up from an operating loss of $16.5 million in the same period a year earlier, a swing of $22.7 million.
The port saw record cargo volume in March - 229,410 containers as measured in standard 20-foot units or TEUs - an all-time high for a single month. The increased container traffic resulted in congestion that hit Virginia International Gateway - the former APM Terminals facility that the authority leases - particularly hard.
A series of initiatives are under way to deal with the backups, including the building of a rail-container yard at Virginia International Gateway, as well as the addition of more chassis - the carriages on which trucks haul containers - and adding more container-handling equipment at the recently reactivated Portsmouth Marine Terminal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A $350 dinner plate-ful.... Submitted by MindSpoiler on Thu, 04/23/2015 at 3:32 pm. Remember Mr. Reinhart, you are still held accountable for the dysfunction of management at these ports. And as for my colleagues, we do hold you accountable for our financial course that we are still trying to recoup. Sell the colorful metaphor to the media or your next fanfare meeting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- P.S. Attention drivers, there is a $150 detention time pay by the ship-lines, collected by your motor carriers. Don't forget to ask for it, it's your time!

First thing is there is no real organization here in HR. Second is that most people know and some are continuing to try to do things behind the scene. Third, eventually those at that so-call movement will get it and hopefully vote in a new leader. "Bad mismanagement" is G H E T T O. For Truckers By Truckers The facts are undeniable... 1. Adequate Equipment 2. Available & productive Labor...Laughable. More ghetto think.
I misspoke that statement but I hope that people look beyond that blunder and focus on the issues. Pure Ghetto!
For Truckers By Truckers: It is not our initiative David. We desire to utilize our efforts in organizing, in hopes of realistic changes...Really?
Change is coming but not on a fourteen months and counting of doing nothing. One man with a thirteen minute video has done more in front of a camera than any selfies or lap dog entertainment with management can ever get done. The A-Clown is definitely laughable.

Drivers pay attention. You need new leadership, not a clown show.
Porttrucker.com 5/06/15 - 7 hrs
"Attention truckers." This site does not censor your comments. We do not believe in trampling on your right of freedom of expression as do some other trucker sites which feel they must exert moderator influence over their own membership in order to control the free flow of ideas which they may not agree with. Please feel free to express yourself, ask questions, make comments on important subjects here being discussed. The general idea is that the concerned members of this site will properly correct those who get out of line or who offer no credible information on legitimate driver concerns that plaque each of us at ports along the Atlantic. People have different opinions on what corrections need to be implemented in order to move the cargo in an expeditious manner. We need input from everyone involved in ocean commerce. Remember we're in this fight to the finish together. Not one port can stand alone if any form of true compensation is to be addressed for all the wasted time every trucker spends each day at these port terminal facilities. Let's concentrate more on what we can do working together as a powerful group rather than a what appears sometimes as a few individuals worried over who may be the next leader.. Organize, organize, organize should be the number one goal, not ones own self advancement nor posturing for a position. Real leadership is recognized by everyone while the group sacrifices together toward the common good for all. If you're a true leader you don't need to remind followers who look to you for advice. It's time to apply every ounce of concentration to the fight for justice!
Note: I don't want to be the one that told you so but looks and sound like a scolding to the so-call founder, director, creator & selfie clown of FTBG. d**n!

For those left out of the communication process...
For Truckers By Truckers: We responded to this anonymous initiative at our April meeting Leo, we are sorry you missed it. FTBT is utilizing productive energy on developing solutions that will be beneficial to our industry. For instance: FTBT will be working MAY 14th at the VMA's International Trade Symposium to discuss our concerns to a listening audience. We (the staff) have not been in touch with any organizer with this initiative to support a cause without clear understanding of its objective or 'end game'. Quite frankly we cannot comprehend the results this initiative will achieve, can you? Will the port conditions be resolved Monday morning when you return? Will your rates be increased by your MC because you decided not to start up your truck? Are the organizer(s) intending on being a representative of your expectations/demands to the port or are they staying home as well??? Lets all be responsible and work towards solidarity and comprehensive solutions. #Summerofchange
Really but after fourteen months and counting nothing has been done there. Especially, when you are being censor & led by a KID, the A** clown. Continuing laughter...

You maybe desperate, you maybe spinning wheels but asking for help. Look desperateinva, when was your last mental evaluation. Have you try listening to yourself in the morning in front of the mirror (self help & free therapy). Drivers have to understand that FTBG is NOT going anywhere or do for you or the trucking community. You can see it for yourself on the their website, listen to drivers whom have attended their so-call meetings. Do you think after fifteen months anything positive has come from them except porta-potties and trash cans (last one shouldn't count). It's like reading the Sunday comics everyday you visit their Funny-Facebook. More selfies than uncensored, unfettered comments. And you know what they say about a man taking to many selfies. I will continue to expose on this site their so-call transparency. I am not alone on this quest and there are some players out there that are making a difference. Again, uncensored, unrestrained or compromised in their efforts. Unlike some that have tried to help FTBG. The clown will learn a hard lesson when the time comes, that I can predict with certainty. I see the pattern and I know from past the coalition that this WILL happen again.
So Randy, hang in there its coming...

"I believe some folk are trying to make promises without a clear cut plan. Why go down the same path as others before knowing the history as many of us do. Some times ones own ambitions cloud their vision. We may only have one more shot at overhauling this broken system so why waste man power without a serious strategy in place that will be supported by truckers at other ports too?"
In response to this statement: FTBT has no business in our business. That said, yes there is some drivers working behind the scene in an effort to changes and attention to the problems caused by management. They (mgmt) will not admit the wrong but there are other ways in presenting this embarrassment back to them; while getting immediate results and not waiting months in doing so. As far as solidarity and coming together, well not everyone agree to the same strategy (example: FTBT). Wasted men power comes from those that continue to sit at the ports clueless and those that follow the clown.

"The toilets are symbolic of congestion problems so severe they are needed to help relieve the problems created by long waits to get into the port".
The new catch phase to the people(FTBT) who work to getting you porta-potties. Not just laughable but sad.

Found on Funny-Facebook: For the critics out there, this is what FTBT, TMTA, and VMA are out here fighting for. Mr. Fusion isn't even worth my time. Nasty attitudes don't get anything but negative replies. That's why we wouldn't rehire you! I'm too busy taking care of our VERY hard working owner operators/co-workers to even reply to your nonsense on other websites.
In response: Well, well, well... from the perch of her majesty's float, the Princess speaks. Easily being misled by the delusional rascals of FTBT; the Princess thinks that they are fighting for drivers or against the mess that management has caused at the ports.
If only drivers knew how hard you are working for them, such as your accounting services and surcharge distribution. Not to mention how your former dispatcher under the influence of (?) and selectivity of dispatching drivers (currently at Evans) was a problem at the time. So not to be nasty about this, nonsense begets nonsense. Too busy to reply, uh?
Sincerely, Not-for-Hire Fusion

Respect? Let me see, they manage to get inside of a $350 event (that they said they couldn't afford), denounce the protest outside of:
Symposium, Thursday, May 14, 2015; at Norfolk Waterside Marriott, Norfolk, VA (Total Hypocrisy. Drivers protested for port injustice
outside and while they lavished in decadence at a $350 dinner.), remind management when it comes to maintenance (Guidelines for
truckers are being repainted at NIT TZ's. Thanks for responding to FTBT request.), manage to spread rumors to T. Mgrs that drivers are
talking bad about them at other sites (good luck w/ that), and discredited a female driver for getting out of line at VIG, join the
cause to protest, interviewed by several media (other Funny-Facebook) and was INVITED by someone supporting our cause outside to speak
her mind to the representatives in the event. Can you NOT see what's happening drivers. Think! FTBT for what?

The staff of FTBT has agreed to reduce the frequency of our monthly LIVE meetings. However, our intentions are to still produce a monthly meeting. Sounds confusing huh? Allow me to break it down. One month, starting this month, we will produce an online PODCAST (that will only be accessed by actual FTBT membership card holders). The following month will be a normal LIVE meeting at our usual meeting hall. We appreciate your understanding with this decision and hope to retain your support. What the staff is able to accomplish day in and day out is a huge undertaking. With the limited amount of committed participation, makes it all the more difficult.
Make no mistake that FTBT is not disbanding. In fact, we are utilizing the energy and cost associated with facilitating a monthly LIVE meeting with an IMPACTFUL business project that will most certainly revolutionize this industry. Details concerning that project will soon come.
Wow! I can-not wait. Sound like the last throes of the so-call movement.
