Any companies worth going to here in Hampton Roads or are containers a lost cause the rest of this year? I am ready to make a move from where I am at now (rather not say). They are not worth mentioning anyway. My tractor is a day cab. I just made the last payment this month so now I am going to be picky before I pull anything. I am seeing plenty work, that is plenty cheap work. Even thought about some short haul flatbed work but I think the container rates have driven that down in the gutter with them. Any suggestions, anybody?

I just had it out with my trucking company. One of the CEO's came here today talking about some of us refusing to pull loads that didn't pay as well as others. He said starting today everyone would have to take the good loads with the bad or face not being dispatched at the local terminal. I gave this a lot of thought while fueling up at Frank's a while ago. When I got back off my run this afternoon I pulled my placards and told them to shove it. I own this d**n truck, they don't. I will find another company in the morning to lease to that pays, if not screw it. I'll park the truck before I run it in the ground because their customers all want discounted freight rates. yjwyjwyjwryjwryjwryjwryjnrszayjnr

This jerk must be talking about other trucking agents with rented office space dispatching loads. Let's see they have rent, lights, phone, fax, computer, etc. None of this equipment drinks fuel, requires constant maintenance on weekends, has parts damaged by nails, bolts, screws or other debris at the terminals, is exposed to hazardous working conditions, or can be ticketed for the slightest infraction of the law. Yeah, we have it made out here alright, moving your f*****g freight.

These trucking companies that have cheesy leasing programs to make you into an instant owner-operator are like working for a title max or payday loan shark. "QUICKCASH" is probably one of them.

this sounds like the last dipsh*t i worked for here in portsmouth.he had a few clunkers he had sold over and over agin to drivers.i brought my own truck but stayed only three weks which was thre weeks too long.

Maybe you should post as the "VAMPIRELEASOR" because it appears you suck the blood right out of your driver pool. I'm sure your rates reflect your corrupt truck leasing tactics because you probably can't attract any quality owner-operator truckers to pull your cheap freight. This leaves you having to resort to creating weak dependent lessee/contractors by leasing them your trucks at two to five times the normal price that a driver with credit could buy one for. In the end the same truck more than likely gets sold ten more times to more inexperienced drivers which the majority have no business owning one in the first place until they learn what it actually cost to operate.
You get an incredible whammy out of all this by skirting employee taxes, avoiding paying full freight revenue to any legitimate O/O, paying no truck expenses but taking full advantage of write offs, and profiting ten fold or greater over what you paid for the used fleet trucks in the first place while you continue pass it to the next fool. You also manage to get everything repaired each time from anything the last guy left you broken by just adding it to the new lessee-owner (after you steal the last guys final pay & escrow) and the poor saps continue to pay all the expenses over and over again. This is a better scam than having the only buy here/pay here used car lot at the gate of a giant military installation.
You are the very type that have sent port freight rates into the toilet over the past twenty years by you & your fellow cronies unscrupulous trucking practices. You also are the same sort of self serving greedy individual that continues to add fuel to the California (CTP) Teamster employee mandate plan to take away the rights to truck ownership from legitimate owner/drivers nationwide. That's OK, because if we lose our individual right as an owner/driver to haul intermodal freight because of corrupt idiots like you, you also lose along with us, your illegal business scam will also be out on the street. Maybe you can get in line with dozens more just like you to apply for dispatcher at Swift, Schneider, or JB hunt who will be replacing your operation along with all your sleazy buddies too?

Great post. Your right on the money with this. You can thank at least 80% of these fly by night trucking companies who line the boulevard outside every port gate for escalating this terminal pollution issue being used by the Teamsters to grow legs. If these money hungry companies had been paying what they owed us instead of busy scheming how much they could steal they would have not run off the majority of good drivers with decent equipment. Now the remainder of us left may suffer because of their foolishness if Congress allows every port operator to decide on this clean truck plan replacing the owner-operator trucker.

I used to work for TTSI before I realized what a disgusting bunch of liars those people are. They fit the exact same company profile of what (QUICKCASH) thinks of truckers hauling out of the VA ports.
